JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

As an incoming team member of the Office of Physical Plant, it will be expected that all employees embody and model Penn State's and Finance and Business's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

  • Perform general maintenance and repairs to dining hall equipment, coffee urns, dish and glass washers and various mechanical devices; maintain and repair box gutters, stacks, metal roofs and scupper drains
  • Read and interpret drawings and blueprints; layout jobs; plan work in proper operational sequence; perform required operations to install equipment
  • Fabricate and construct such metal items as deer pens, rabbit pens, special laboratory equipment, ducts, hoods, spouting, flashing conveyers, shutes, sinks, drains, built-in roof gutters, standing seam roofing, prefabricated chimney and transite ducts; fabricate installations with sheetmetal, stainless steel, aluminum, monel, brass, copper, turn plate; erect steel buildings as required
  • Erect or install above sheetmetal items
  • Fabricate fiberglass ducts in stall
  • Operate spot welder and tools, rolls, crimpers, power shears, grinders, drill press, saws, breaks, hand shears and other portable tools
  • Maintain tools and machines in proper condition and repair
  • Detect unusual conditions and report to supervisor
  • Erect, work on and dismantle ladders, metal and wood scaffolding and other staging as required
  • Direct the work of helpers or apprentices as assigned
  • Maintain work area in a clean, orderly condition

Job Requirements: Requires the use of advanced shop mathematics, together with the use of complicated drawings, specifications, charts, tables, handbook formulas, all varieties of adjustable measuring instruments and the use of broad training in a recognized trade or craft. Equivalent to a complete accredited, indentured apprenticeship or equivalent to high school plus a 2-year technical college education. Over 2 up to and including 3 years of effective experience.

Work Schedule:6:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Days Off:Friday, Saturday, Sunday

NOTE: THIS POSITION REQUIRES THAT YOU OPERATE A MOTOR VEHICLE AS A PART OF YOUR JOB DUTIES. A VALID DRIVER`S LICENSE AND SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF A MOTOR VEHICLE RECORDS CHECK WILL BE REQUIRED IN ADDITION TO STANDARD BACKGROUND CHECKS.
