Job Summary

The FIU Wellness and Recreation Center (MMC) is seeking qualified and experienced group fitness instructors with current and nationally accredited (NCCA-approved) certifications to provide group fitness class instruction of various formats as a part of our on-staff fitness team. Duties includes:

  • Ability to lead a diverse population through a safe and effective group fitness course
  • Ability to adjust fitness programming within a session to accommodate clients as needed
  • Effective time and schedule management skills
  • Ability to arrive at least 15 mins prior to each scheduled group fitness class
  • Effective communication skills Ability to maintain a consistent work schedule
  • Reliable transportation
  • Ability to abide by all policies and procedures of the WRC
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift at least 45 lbs. overhead
  • Ability to maintain current group fitness certification

Minimum Qualifications

  • One year of experience preferred but not required, of actively leading successful dance classes in group fitness setting.
  • Current Group Fitness and CPR/AED certification and must maintain certification throughout employment (CPR/ AED/ First Aid certification within 60 days of hire)
  • Certified to lead group fitness class
  • Valid nationally accredited (NCCA-approved) group fitness certification, or license in the format of instruction
  • A minimum of one year of group fitness instructional experience
Work Schedule

  • Schedule varies.
  • 10 hours a week.
Advertised Salary

$18.00-$35.00/hour
