The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The Office of Interdisciplinary Engagement (OIE) builds the Columbia Climate School's capacity for trans-disciplinary collaboration, drives engagement across the University, and incubates and delivers partnerships and initiatives to support the Climate School's pathways to impact. The Senior Program Manager will manage administrative and operational processes, providing strong project management, budget oversight, and communication skills to the office's rapidly growing portfolio. The OIE leads a number of cross-functional initiatives at the Climate School; the Senior Program Manager will play a critical role in growing existing initiatives and developing new ones. The Senior Program Manager will bring a strategic and detail-oriented mindset to managing office functions and multiple projects, along with a willingness to experiment and build a new office within a new school, as a critical member of a creative, supportive, and fast-moving team.

Responsibilities

Operations & Budgeting



  • Manage budgets - complete monthly modifications, keep OIE and Network budgets updated, and keep Networks informed of their budget status and deadlines.
  • Support OIE forward budget planning for the coming year.
  • Manage agendas and scheduling for team meetings, Network events, and Action Collaborative programming.
  • Manage Network onboarding and review processes, create committee materials, rubrics, etc.
  • Manage hiring and procurement for Networks.


Project Management



  • Update, track, and manage project timelines and materials.
  • Evaluation and assessment of internal and external collaborations, partnerships, impact programs, and networks.
  • Monitoring and evaluation (maintain data and metrics on Networks, ACs, workshops, and other programs).


Communications



  • Thought leadership, storytelling, and sharing best practices.
  • Internal Communications (e.g. to Earth Networks and AC teams). Emails, newsletters, end-of-year reporting.
  • External Communications (e.g., Climate School news site and other channels).


Events and Workshops



  • Schedule, manage, and create materials (e.g., decks and agendas) for workshops and meetings/trainings/engagements.
  • Support workshop design and facilitation for Networks and Action Collaboratives.
  • Event logistic support for OIE events and Networks.
  • Program Design and Strategy.
  • Actively contribute to internal strategy and planning discussions.
  • Track progress towards team goals.
  • Research comparable programs and identify areas for improvement and growth.


Special projects and all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree and/or its equivalent, plus 3-5 years related experience.
  • Demonstrated experience managing budgets, schedules, and multi-stakeholder projects.
  • Ability to bring strong operational skills while maintaining flexibility and creativity.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Demonstrated commitment to supporting belonging and dignity in a diverse and inclusive working environment.
