Sentara Heart Hospital located on the campus of Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is hiring a Cardiovascular Research Nurse to support the Clinical Trials Office!

This position is Full-Time Days, 40 hours a week, but must have some flexibility with scheduled hours.

Relocation assistance provided for qualified candidates.

We also conduct research in our community and partner with many community practices.Our research helps to advance scientific understanding of diseases and advance knowledge that leads to better and more effective treatments that improve the health in our communities.

Research Nurse Responsibilities:

  • Research RN manages and coordinates all aspects of conducting clinical trials within Sentara Health, both clinically and administratively.
  • Utilizes in-depth knowledge of protocol requirements to ensure that studies are properly conducted in conformance with the protocol guidelines, departmental standards, and good clinical practices set forth by federal regulations.
  • Responsible for the clinical trial including recruitment, screening, enrollment, and follow-up of eligible subjects according to protocol requirements.
  • Maintenance of accurate and complete documentation of related regulatory documents.
  • Participates in writing, presenting, and publishing results of studies.
  • As the primary resource for the protocols, will function as liaison between the Investigators, the institutional review board (IRB), and the Sponsor.
  • Must have cardiac RN experience, good Epic experience for chart review, solid MS Office skills, good attention to detail for data collection and extractions, excellent communication skills to collaborate with department managers and physicians.

Licensure/Education/Certification/Experience:

  • VA RN License or Compact State RN license eligible.
  • BSN required.
  • BLS required within 90 days.
  • Specialty certification Certified Clinical Research Professional (SOCRA CCRP or ACRP-CP) or Certified Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC) is required within 3 years of employment.
  • Registered Nurse must have 2 years of Cardiac Nursing experience OR have 2 years of RN Research experience.
