Job Description Summary

The Department of Theatre and Dance at Wake Forest University invites applications for a full time Assistant Teaching Professor in Classical Ballet. The initial term of appointment for this non-tenure-track position is two years, with the possibility of renewal. The start date is July 1, 2025.

Job Description:

Qualifications:

  • MFA or equivalent performance experience with a professional ballet company.
  • A minimum of five years professional teaching experience, which may include conservatory, undergraduate, high school or private studio.
  • Expertise in Classical Ballet Technique all levels; Advanced Pointe and Variations.
  • Choreography and Dance Production experience.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Experience and/or Expertise in the following areas especially welcomed.
  • Improvisation, Dance Composition and/or History of Dance.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching Load is 3/3
  • Teach the following: all levels of Classical Ballet; Advanced Pointe and Variations.
  • Choreograph for the Dance concerts and assist in dance concert productions.
  • Play an active role in recruitment and retention of students.
  • Work collaboratively with other faculty on curricular development and administrative/organizational concerns.
  • Serve on Departmental Committees.
