Valley is seeking a strategic and hands-on Sr Strategic People Partner II to provide top-notch people resources advice and guidance to people leaders. This role will provide full cycle human resources support as our business leadership teams' and serve as the primary people resources contact and relationship manager for their business units (interest and experience in Technology & Operations a plus) The role will drive our people initiatives as a champion of Valley's culture and core values to enhance employee engagement and strategic effectiveness.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:


  • Advise, coach, and mentor both managers and associates to identify the talent and business needs of their assigned business lines.
  • Provide human resources leadership, advice and direction to business leaders at all levels and employees in areas such as recruiting, onboarding, talent development, succession planning, organizational development, performance management, workforce planning, compensation and compliance.
  • Partner with fellow colleagues in talent acquisition, total rewards, enterprise learning and talent development, people solutions and services, and diversity, equity, & inclusion teams, to innovate and execute on People Resources programs and processes including Performance Acceleration, Salary Administration, DEI and Engagement initiatives and Succession Planning to ensure effectiveness, compliance, inclusion, and equity throughout Valley.
  • Execute human resources functions and processes, such as providing management consultation and direction to assigned lines of business including specific issues relating to staff position descriptions, total rewards, performance management, learning and development, policy implementation, and new and on-going People Resources initiatives.
  • Collaborate with key business leaders to develop and execute on innovative ideas to enhance culture, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Leverage opportunities to foster collaboration, execution and accountability in the broader Valley landscape and within assigned business units.
  • Understand and communicate company policies, procedures and programs ensuring that internal customers are aware of human resources initiatives designed to support and enhance company culture across all channels.
  • Partner with employee relations and Strategic People Partner teammates to review results of exit interviews, or employee relations investigations to identify issues and make recommendations for improvement/resolution to management.
  • Maintain knowledge of legal requirements and governmental reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensure policies, procedures, and reporting are compliant.
  • Prepare and leverage human resources data to inform and influence key decisions, process improvements and policy changes to establish business line goals.
  • Participate in development of People Resources objectives and systems, including metrics, queries, and standard reports for ongoing company requirements.
  • Partner with People Resources colleagues on project-related activities.
  • Support the continuous improvement and evolution of the Strategic People Partner team by fostering new ideas, crafting plans for improvement, vocalizing challenges and advocating for efficiencies.

Required Experience:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Psychology, Business Administration or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of professional Human Resources experience.


Preferred Experience:


  • Master's Degree in Human Resources or a related field or extensive Human Resources experience in a medium to large matrixed organization
