A competent clinician with moderate level knowledge, assessment and therapeutic skills for respiratory conditions and consistently performs at that level. Periodically incorporates other system assessments into care. Reliably demonstrates consistent practice and documentation to department standards with minimal-to-no-variation. Manages care and implements treatment plans in collaboration with patients, their families, physicians and other members of the health care team. Seeks as well as provides feedback for improved clinical practice. Provides a preceptor role for learners.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: Graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy educational program. Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy required; Bachelor degree in Respiratory Therapy preferred. Experience: 12 months of acute/critical care Respiratory Therapy clinical experience. License/Certification: Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential with the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC). Licensed to practice as a Respiratory Therapist in the Commonwealth of Virginia required. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required. Active NBRC Specialty Credential (e.g., RRT-ACCS, RRT-NPS) required within 2 years of hire for Medical Center Respiratory Therapists; ACLS required for TCH Respiratory Therapists within 3 months of hire.
