Nurse Practitioner Lung Disease
Job Summary The Nurse Practitioner will work in Lung Transplant & Interstitial Lung Disease.
Lung Disease The post-transplant Nurse Practitioner and is responsible for the care of the post-lung transplant patient population. Patient care responsibilities include evaluation and management of patients who have received a lung transplant, follow-up of post-transplant clinical testing and immuno-suppressive management and ongoing discharge teaching and clinical assessment of this population.
Interstitial Lung Disease Under the direction of the Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD) Medical Director, the Nurse Practitioner (NP) will practice at the UCSF Lung Health Center (LHC)'s and will see patients in the ILD program (across three physical campuses, Parnassus, Mt. Zion and Berkeley Outpatient Practice), with as needed cross-coverage for other LHC APPs. This is a unique opportunity to work closely in a multi-disciplinary team including ILD physicians, social workers, nurses, radiologists, pathologists, and rheumatologists. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $95.69 - $124.10 (Hourly Rate). Required Qualifications
- A minimum of two (2) years of recent experience as a Nurse Practitioner.
- A minimum of two (2) years of NP experience in Lung Transplantation and Interstitial Lung Disease.
- Previous pulmonary/interstitial lung disease and lung transplant experience.
- Knowledge of lung diseases, transplantation and immunosuppressive therapy.
- Ability to manage key problems related to transplant: anemia, rehabilitation for geriatric patients, cardiovascular risk assessment (i.e., lipids, diabetes, hypertension, activity, etc).
- Knowledge of infectious disease in the immunocompromised host.
- Excellent patient education skills.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
- Excellent communication skills (written & verbal) and professional conduct.
- Excellent organizational skills, proficiency in meeting deadlines, ability to work independently and prioritize workload.
- Flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Outpatient/Ambulatory Experience in Nurse Practitioner role
- Bilingual (Spanish & English, Cantonese or Mandarin additional plus)
License/Certification
- California driver's license (CDL) if required for position.
- Current national certification from an accepted certifying agency and provide by first day of work.

- Current and active RN and NP and Furnishing license in California.
- Complete a BRN recognized graduate master's degree program as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Obtain an active and/or transferable DEA license to California and provide evidence by 90th day of clinical practice. (It is the responsibility of the employee to transfer their DEA license to their new place of employment if from out of state, via online DEA portal and provide evidence of transfer).
- Submit enrollment with CMS Medicare and Medicaid through credentialing by first clinical day. CCS enrollment as appropriate for pediatric environments.
- Current AHA BLS.
- State regulation requires that you have a supervising physician to practice.
- Incumbents with less than 6 months of NP experience will be hired as a Nurse Practitioner 1.
UCSF Medical Center and Campus requires certain healthcare providers to be credentialed. In most cases this is done through its Office of Medical Affairs & Governance (OMAG) prior to the first working day. Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 60-90 days but can vary.
