Position Summary |
The Residential Practicum Adviser (Adjunct Instructor) will provide practicum support to students in one concentration by (at a minimum):
* Reviewing
SPHG 703 pre-course survey data to understand students' practicum interests, needs, and questions
* Conducting a 30-minute meeting with each student to review their practicum planning document and direct them to resources, opportunities, and connections as appropriate
* Attending 4 1-hour
SPHG 703 class sessions during the spring term via Zoom
o Facilitate breakout group during class overview (Meg provides all materials, practicum advisers deliver content)
o Facilitate breakout group during mid-semester check-in (Meg provides all materials, practicum advisers deliver content)
o Facilitate breakout group during learning agreement class (Meg provides all materials, practicum advisers deliver content)
o Facilitate breakout group during wrap-up class (Meg provides all materials, practicum advisers deliver content)
* Hosting office hours to support students as they apply for, interview for, and select practicum opportunities
* Reviewing and providing feedback on the appropriateness and feasibility of learning agreements
* Grading finalized learning agreements
* Assisting with practicum tracking and documentation for students in your section
* Responding to mid-practicum emails
* Troubleshooting and providing technical assistance during practicum as needed
* Participating in teaching team meetings
* Participating in practicum quality improvement processes
* Assessing students' practicum products for competency demonstration |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
* A masters in public health or related field is required.
* Must have experience completing or precepting a Gillings
MPH practicum.
* Must have significant interest and experience in career mentoring. |
