Job Description
The Engineering Management and Systems Engineering department within the Kummer College at the Missouri University of Science and Technology is seeking to hire an Associate Professor with expertise in Data Science, Data Analytics, and Artificial Intelligence. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in these areas, while also leading cutting-edge research initiatives that address complex engineering problems through the application of data-driven methodologies. The candidate will be expected to collaborate with faculty across disciplines to integrate data science and AI into existing curricula, contributing to the department's interdisciplinary approach to problem-solving. In addition to teaching and research, the Associate Professor will be expected to secure external funding to support their research activities, engage with industry partners to foster collaborative projects, and contribute to the department's goal of increasing its research profile at both the national and international levels. The ideal candidate will have a strong publication record, experience in securing grants, and a demonstrated ability to mentor graduate students and junior faculty. This faculty position will also involve significant service responsibilities, including serving on departmental and university committees, contributing to curriculum development, and participating in outreach activities that promote the department's mission. The candidate will play a key role in preparing students to meet the demands of an increasingly data-driven world, ensuring that our graduates are equipped with the skills needed to succeed in both academia and industry.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, High-Performance Computing, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field from an ABET accredited school or equivalent accreditation.
- Strong potential for, or demonstrated record of, excellence in research in Data Science, Data Analytics, or Artificial Intelligence.
- A demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with industry, startups, or technology commercialization.
- Experience with ABET accreditation.
