Summary: The Special Hematology Laboratory is currently recruiting a Medical Laboratory Specialist. This position performs a variety of patient testing and administrative tasks in support of the clinical activities in the UNCHCS. This specialist works closely with our clinical team and the pathologists in our Hematopathology department by performing case triage, bone marrow aspirate differential counts, review of outside pathology case material, and supports the teaching of hospital pathology residents and fellows, as well as other administrative functions. They may also assist with bone marrow collections and perform complex specialty testing such as Hemoglobin/Thalassemia Profile on HPLC. Standard Schedule: Monday - Friday day shift hours and the Specialist will be in a rotation to take afterhours, weekend, and holiday "on-call" responsibility.
