The Opportunity

The School of Politics, Security, and International Affairs (SPSIA) at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for the position of an instructor or lecturer in American judicial politics with an anticipated start date of August 2025. The job is a 9-month, non-tenure earning,annually renewable position that offers a clear career path with the possibility of promotion based on years of service and performance.

The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated record of successful classroom teaching in a variety of political science courses including constitutional law, and other American judicial politics-related classes. The selected candidate will be expected to teach a variety of courses including the introductory American National Government class. The expected teaching load will be eight courses during the academic year (typically four in the fall semester and four in the spring semester). The successful candidate will be expected to teach in different modalities including face-to-face and online.If teaching online, faculty will receive training for utilizing online teaching tools and internal support.

The School of Politics, Security, and International Affairs houses two undergraduate majors, a master's program in political science, and a Ph.D. program in security studies. Minimum Qualifications:

A master's degree (for an instructor) or a Ph.D. (for a lecturer) in political science (or a closely related field) with an emphasis in American judicial politics, from an accredited institution.

Preferred Qualifications:

• A demonstrated record of successful undergraduate teaching in American politics courses.

• An ability to teach courses on American judicial politics, including constitutional law, judicial process, and other pre-law and politics classes.

• An ability to teach in different modalities (online, face-to-face, etc.).
