Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Power Electronics Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a key member of our power conversion team, you will lead the design, development, and implementation of advanced power electronic systems and components for high reliability Navy and commercial applications. Your contributions will be instrumental in driving innovation and ensuring mission-critical performance, reliability, and sustainability in critical applications.

What You Will Do
  • Lead the design and development of power electronic systems, including converters, inverters, and control systems, from concept to production.
  • Define technical requirements and specifications based on project goals and customer needs.
  • Conduct detailed analysis, simulation, and modeling of power electronic circuits and systems.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including hardware engineers, software engineers, and mechanical designers to develop power electronic components and systems.
  • Perform design verification, testing, and validation to ensure compliance with Customer and contract specifications and performance requirements.
  • Apply Design for X (DfX) methodologies including but not limited to Design for Cost, Design for Test, and Design for Manufacturability into the products being developed.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to power electronics design processes and methodologies.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
Education & Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or a related field; advanced degree (MBA or PhD) preferred
  • Proven track record of at least 8 years in the design and development of power electronic systems, preferably in power conversion or electric drive
  • Expertise in designing high-frequency switching power converters, inverters, and DC/DC converters
  • Proficiency in simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, MathCAD, PSpice, or equivalent
  • Strong understanding of thermal management, EMI considerations, and reliability engineering principles
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams and functions
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in guiding engineering teams and projects
  • Candidates must be a US citizen and meet DRS security standards as imposed by DoD, including the issuance of any necessary security clearance by the US government within a reasonable time after commencement of employment.

Other preferred qualifications include: magnetic component design experience, experience in digital control of power electronic systems, working knowledge of military standards for power quality and EMI, experience with OSHA and NFDA 70E Electrical Safe Work practices, medium voltage design experience
